Senior Program Manager, the European Fund for the Balkans

 

Igor Bandovic has been working as a Programme Manager for the European Fund for the Balkans since 2008. He is in charge for the “Balkans in Europe Policy Advisory Group”  policy research initiative developed in cooperation with the Centre For Southeast European Studies of the University of Graz, Austria and “Think and Link”, capacity building programme for the emerging think tanks in the region of Western Balkans He also coordinated the Gallup Balkan Monitor, regional public opinion survey which was conducted through partnership with Gallup Europe (2009-2011). Before joining EFB, Igor Bandovic worked for the different international organizations, including International Organization for Migration and United Nations Development Programme as a researcher and trainer in the areas of human rights protection. From 2002 to 2006, Igor worked for the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights where his research priorities were human rights education, civil society, transitional justice, war crimes and nationalism. He was conducting research and analyzing public attitudes towards the ICTY and national war crimes trials (2003-2005). His recent publications include research paper: “The Role of Civil Society Organizations in Influencing the Policy-Making Process in the Western Balkans – Perspectives and Obstacles”, research report: “The Role of Human and Minority Rights in the Process of Reconstruction and Consolidation for State and Nation Building - the Case of Serbia”, research paper “The Role of Non-governmental Organizations and their Impact on Good Governance in Serbia” and others. Igor’s engagement in civil society movement started in 1997, when he established “Libergraf,” the nongovernmental organization which has dealt with the public education, the promotion of human rights and civic activism.
